Everyday Adventures – Midwest Maifest

After a long winter, spring is finally here and this past weekend we attended an event called Midwest Maifest. This festival is a German celebration of spring’s arrival and featured local companies who create food, beer, wine, and spirits. We’re beer geeks and it had been a long time since we’d attended a beer festival and this didn’t disappoint!

The festival was held at New Town, a planned community in St. Charles, Missouri and was complete with a live German band, local businesses, over 10 craft breweries, plus a handful of local wineries and distilleries.

While I attended with my husband, one thing I really liked seeing was the families (including four-legged members) in attendance. It was refreshing to see kids playing on the grassy lawn in front of the band’s stage and people of all ages gathering for a Sunday afternoon of food, fun, and music.

The whole afternoon was fun, but my favorite moments were enjoying a brat and an ice cream cone (it was a pleasant 80 degree day), and sampling beers from craft breweries in the region (I took video of these moments and turned them into a Reel on Instagram, which you can watch here). While we enjoyed most of the beers sampled, our favorite was the marzen from The Crafty Chameleon.

I’m sure we’ll attend more summer festivals, concerts, and markets, but that’s it for my first Everyday Adventures post. I hope to have fun with this series and document my life, be on the lookout for some more adventures coming soon!
