Experiments, They’re Not Just for Scientists Anymore

All life is an experiment. The more experiments you make the better. Ralph Waldo Emerson

One of my New Year’s resolutions was to write more. Another was to push myself out of my comfort zone.
I made these resolutions because I wanted to challenge myself to grow as a writer.
As I pondered how I could put these resolutions in action, I had an ambitious idea.
Why not blog every day (Monday-Friday)?
The thought was just crazy enough for me to follow through.
One of the major reasons I decided to give posting every day a shot is to improve. As the old saying goes, practice makes perfect, and this statement is especially true where writing is concerned.
I remember back in the days when I called a noise-filled, smelly, dusty, chaotic newsroom my place of work. As a features writer for three weekly newspapers, I was expected to work on articles daily, in order to hit my deadlines for the multiple rags.
At first it was a bit daunting, but after a few weeks, I got into a nice, steady rhythm and my writing improved. A lot.
As I stated earlier, I’m experimenting with the concept of writing every day for the month of January. If it works out the way I think it will, I may carry the experiment over into February.
Like most things in life, I won’t know if it’ll be a success or a failure until I do it.
Hopefully it’s a success.
