Over the past few months I’ve gotten into an old hobby, and that’s finding aesthetically pleasing photos and articles to share to my Pinterest account. I’ve been on the social media network since 2011, and for at least five years I was a die-hard Pinterest chick. I looked for, pinned, and made new recipes, I found outfit and style inspiration, and pinned more DIY projects that any human could possibly accomplish in one lifetime.
But around 2017 or so, I just lost interest in the platform. I’m not really sure why, but I think part of it had to do with being swayed by Instagram’s new (at that time) story option and what became the first step toward that social network moving toward a more video based platform.
Flash forward to 2021 and I was sick of video content, tired of the ubiquitous use of trending music mashups and silly voice over content in the form of Instagram Reels. And last summer I logged into my Pinterest account much more regularly, but I mostly used it for writing tips and sharing my articles.
Once I started gardening and canning, I realized that Pinterest is the perfect platform to find new and interesting content on canning, growing food, and yes, finding yummy recipes. Since I’m now writing more food and beverage articles, I share them there since that content is usually being searched for on the platform.
Now that I’m on Pinterest more frequently and looking for information on my newest hobbies, I’ve also fell back in love with the platform and its unique ability to help me visualize things like future greenhouse ideas, cozy book nooks, and dreamy cottage core interiors.
