August is National Sandwich Month

Did you know that there’s an entire month is dedicated to the humble sandwich? This lovely, handheld meal is perfect for any time of day: breakfast, lunch, or dinner. And it’s perfect for taking on the go.

With versatility like that, is it really so surprising that there’s a whole month to honor it?

I decided that I’d share a few places to grab a sandwich in the St. Louis area, in case you’d like to try one out this month, or any time!

Where to find market deli sandwiches (hot or cold deli meat style): Mannino’s Market in Cottleville and Marsala’s Market in New Town both serve made to order sandwiches. At Mannino’s try the Godfather, turkey, roast beef, salami, ham, Swiss cheese on your choice of sub-style bread. At Marsala’s try the Italian sub, ham, genoa salami, pepperoni, and provolone.

Where to find a cafe-style sandwich (hot or cold sandwiches or chicken salad) : Frontier Perk Cafe in St. Charles is the place to get chicken salad filled with pecans, celery, cranberry and more served on a croissant or their turkey bacon avocado served on sourdough.

Where to find a hot sandwich (po’boys, subs, grilled, or grinders): Bellacino’s in St. Charles serves classic hot subs like meatball or grinders like the Italian Grinder with ham, sausage, salami, mushrooms, onions, green peppers, cheese, lettuce, tomato and mayo. DraftKings at Casino Queen Sportsbook inside DraftKings at Casino Queen, serves a few hot sandwiches like the St. Louis Hot Salami filled with salami, white queso, spicy mustard and giardiniera on a French roll or the Grilled Chicken Ranchouse with chicken breast, guacamole, ranch spread, lettuce and tomato on a brioche bun and a Shrimp Po’boy with fried shrimp, remoulade, lettuce, tomato and pickles served on a French roll.
