Plan a Road Trip to the Homes of Literary Legends

It’s summer and no matter how busy your life, there’s almost always time for a short getaway. Whether you’re looking for ideas for a staycation, minication, or actual vacation, there’s no shortage of things to do in Missouri. One idea for a short road trip or even a day trip, is to visit the home (or homes) of famous Missouri writers Mark Twain and Laura Ingalls Wilder.

Hannibal, Missouri features the Mark Twain boyhood home and museum, which hosts live performances, artifacts and articles of clothing from the author.

In Mansfield, Missouri, you can take a step back in time to view the home and museum of Laura Ingalls Wilder, the author of the Little House series. Each year, near the end of summer visit the museum for Wilder Days (scheduled for Sept. 22 and 23 this year) to listen to the fiddling contest and celebrate all things Little House.
