It’s been a while since I’ve shared an update on my blog, but over the past few weeks I’ve had a lot going on. Of course, we’re right in the thick of garden season, but I’ve also taken on several exciting work projects.
In June I took two short trips to Lake of the Ozarks for several writing assignments for Lake Expo. These assignments required me to visit restaurants and sample food/drink and write a review of the establishment. Eating yummy food and sampling beautiful cocktails is a tough job, but someone has to do it 😉
So far, an article about the award-winning barbecue restaurant Wobbly Boots has been published and you can read it here, as well as a write up on the “Key West of the Midwest” Franky & Louie’s can be read here, and an article about The Encore Lakeside Grill, which can be viewed here. Below are a few behind the scenes pics I grabbed at several places during or post photo shoot.

During this same time frame-ish I have also gotten a couple assignments from Jefferson City Magazine. While my pieces for Lake Expo are on restaurants, the Jefferson City Magazine articles are a return to the kind of writing (lifestyles and community profiles) I did before focusing so heavily on food and restaurants. I do really enjoy talking to people and businesses, learning their stories, and sharing them, so this departure from food has been really enjoyable.
One of the lifestyle articles has been published in the July/August issue and it’s about living with color vision deficiency, commonly referred to as color blindness. You can read that article here.
And on top of these newer freelance assignments, I’ve continued to write steadily for What Now Columbus, so as you might be guessing as you read this, I have been busy with work, but I love what I’m doing!
That’s all the writing updates I have for now, I will share more later and hope to return to a regular blogging schedule this month.
