Wednesday ROW80 Check-In

It’s hot, hot, hot here in the Midwest, so I’ve been staying indoors to work on my goals.

  1. This week I’ve been chugging right along on my word count goals, continuing the trend from last week! So far, I have 1,565 words. I have written as follows: Sunday. 395 (Sunday is a day I can take off, but if I write on the weekends, hey, it just ups my word count); Monday, 572; Tuesday, 598. I’m not finished writing today, and I want to write at least 1,000 words tonight. I’ve turned into a Nocturnal Novelist lately, so I’m sure I’ll get a second wind and write into the wee hours. Also, I’ve committed to making tomorrow one of my nomadic writing experiences, I’ll be out of the house, writing in an area library, so I’m sure to increase the word count then.
  2. I’m still writing a page in my journal every day. I love journal writing, it helps clear my head and it’s a place I can turn to when I need to write about emotional topics.
  3. I’ve decided I am modifying some ROW80 goals. I really want to push myself and get the first draft of my WIP done by Labor Day weekend at the latest. I know I can do it, if I devote myself to writing more. I originally planned on having Love, Simplified finished by May or June, to be released fall of 2012, but with my dad’s death in March and moving out of state in April, I didn’t work on it for almost four months. Now, that the writing bug has bitten me again and I’m getting back to my normal routine, I would still like to have the book released in fall (I’m  tentatively thinking November). So, given that I am devoting my ROW80 time to writing more, I am cutting loose my goals of reading a classic literature book and a book on the writing craft every 20 days.
