Get Growing – Starting Seeds Early For My 2024 Garden

After a successful 2023 garden season, I’m eager to get my garden going again. So far in February I’m working on starting a few seeds that I’ll grow inside, including some microgreens and herbs. And, I finally put together the walk-in greenhouse I bought almost two years ago.

A few early 2024 garden starts.

It’s a long story as to why I never opened the box and put it together, mainly because I bought it when I still lived in an apartment and thought I’d use it for my balcony container garden in the winter, and once I moved, I didn’t think I’d need it and basically my yard is on a slope (both front and back), but I found a sliver of space that is kind of level where I can (hopefully) use it now.

This spring, the greenhouse is where I’ll start some cool weather crops I plan to transplant, as well as some cool weather crops that I’m growing in containers like spinach, kale and herbs.

I’m also planning on getting another plot in the community garden like I did last season, but I’m putting together a plan to make better use of the raised bed. I’ll have access to the community garden raised bed from March to the end of October and last year I only utilized the garden bed from around mid-May to Sept.

I have promised myself that I’ll do better this year to increase my yields as well as learn to grow cooler weather crops that grow in spring and fall.

Stay tuned to follow along my gardening process this year.
